Emergencies
Emergency and After-Hours Notice
RCC is not an emergency service. What to do in an emergency and after hours.
Effective date: August 4, 2026 · Reviewed at least annually · Status: Approved.
EMERGENCY: RCC is not an emergency service and does not provide continuous 24-hour clinical monitoring. For chest pain, severe shortness of breath, loss of consciousness, stroke symptoms, severe allergic reaction, uncontrolled bleeding, suicidal or homicidal danger, or another potential emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.
Messages are not continuously monitored
Portal, secure-message, voicemail, website, form, email, and telehealth channels may not be reviewed immediately, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Do not wait for an RCC response if delay may place anyone at risk.
Urgent but non-emergency needs
For a time-sensitive problem that is not an emergency, seek an appropriate urgent-care facility, primary-care provider, or emergency department based on severity. RCC may direct a patient to in-person care when remote assessment is inadequate.
Medication and refill requests
Refill requests, lost medication, delayed shipments, laboratory questions, and billing issues are not handled as emergencies. Submit them early through the approved channel. If interruption may create an immediate medical risk, seek prompt in-person evaluation.
Technology failure during telehealth
If a telehealth connection fails, the patient should attempt to reconnect and remain reachable at the documented callback number. If symptoms become urgent or emergency-level, stop trying to reconnect and obtain appropriate in-person emergency care.
RCC coverage limitations
RCC does not currently maintain a designated backup provider and does not represent that continuous clinical coverage is available. When the Provider is unavailable, patients needing time-sensitive evaluation may be referred to another qualified provider, urgent care, or an emergency department.
